■About Event (説明):祭り当日の早朝から1,500人以上の人々が、365本の縄を半日以上かけて1本の綱へと練り上げる。練りあがった綱は、長さ365m、重さ7tの大きさで、約3,000人の上半身を裸にさらしを巻いた男たちが、一斉に引き合います。相手の引き隊を妨害するために相手の陣内に押し込む「押し隊」と呼ばれる男たちが激しくぶつかり合う様は勇壮で見る者を圧倒します。

This traditional tug-of-war event, which has endured for more than four hundred years, involves approximately 3,000 men who pull forcefully at a rope that is 365 meters long and weights 7 tons.
Beginning early in the morning on the festival day, over 1,500 participants begin tying 365 individual ropes together and spend half of the day weaving them into a single, giant rope. The main rope weighs 7 tons and is 365 meters long. Nearly 3,000 men with exposed torsos drag the rope in unison. The so-called “pushing squad” (oshitai) obstructs the opponent’s team by ramming into it violently in a way that puts on display manly courage.

19:00〜22:00 Watch the tug of war with a guide(guests can join in)
