Introduction
Kiyoshiki Castle was erected in ancient times by the Irikiin family, a prominent faction in the Satsuma domain. The castle was constructed on a mountainside, and its completion year is unclear. The city was abandoned during the Edo era due to the "Decree of One Castle Per Province," and only a portion of the stone wall exists today. In 2004, it was recognized as a national historic site.
