Introduction
Explore this famous attraction that represents the Koshiki Islands. You can see the 4-kilometer tombolo separates the sea with three various ponds at this observatory. The origin of its name dates back to the Edo period, when Mitsuhisa Shimazu, the second feudal lord of the Satsuma Domain, once highly praised the scenery as “a beach with a nice view''. Nowadays, tourists can visit “Nagamehama Observatory” or “Tanojiri Observatory” to enjoy a panoramic vista.
